Tyson Fury, the celebrated former world heavyweight champion, is set to make his much-anticipated return to the boxing ring, marking his fifth comeback from retirement. The fight, scheduled for April 11, will see him face off against Russia's Arslanbek Makhmudov at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a venue familiar to Fury from his past triumphs.
This upcoming bout will be Fury's first fight since his two consecutive defeats against Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. The 37-year-old British boxer will find himself in comfortable surroundings, as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with its 62,000-seat capacity, previously hosted his successful title defense against Derek Chisora in December 2022. This stadium also witnessed Anthony Joshua's initial loss to Usyk, adding to its rich boxing history.
Since Fury's victory over Chisora, the stadium has been the setting for other significant boxing events, including the two clashes between British rivals Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. in 2025, where they each secured a win. The press conference for the Fury vs. Makhmudov fight, featuring Fury's impressive record of 34-2-1 with 24 knockouts against Makhmudov's 21-2 record with 19 KOs, will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday, with tickets going on sale via Ticketmaster on Tuesday.
This fight signifies Fury's return to fight on British soil after his last three professional bouts took place in Saudi Arabia. In 2023, he overcame a surprising knockdown to defeat former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh, which was also the location for his two encounters with Usyk. Those matches against the undefeated Ukrainian, 38, represented the first two losses of Fury's career, and the initial contest deprived Fury of undisputed status, as Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 24 years.
Meanwhile, Makhmudov, 36, enters the April fight following a points victory over Dave Allen in October. The Russian has a 3-2 record in his last five fights, with his first professional loss coming in a 2023 stoppage by Agit Kabayel.
The upcoming match between Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is poised to be a thrilling event, as Fury aims to reassert his dominance in the heavyweight division. The return to a familiar and successful venue in London after a series of high-profile fights in Saudi Arabia adds an extra layer of anticipation to this important contest for both fighters.
