The Playmaker to Launch Animated Feature 'The Unicorn That Said No' at European Film Market

The Playmaker is preparing to unveil its latest animated feature, "The Unicorn That Said No," at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin, scheduled from February 12-18. A special sneak peek, in the form of a teaser, will be presented during the event, building anticipation for its release. Warner Bros. has already secured the distribution rights for Germany, with plans to launch the film in the fourth quarter of the current year. This cinematic adaptation draws its inspiration from Marc-Uwe Kling's widely celebrated children's book, which has garnered global recognition with translations into 27 languages.

The narrative centers around an extraordinary unicorn born in the idyllic Forest of Hearts, who, despite its sweet and loving environment, persistently says "no" to everything, earning it the affectionate moniker "uNOcorn" from its family. One day, the uNOcorn embarks on a journey beyond its familiar cotton candy world, venturing into the unknown. Along its travels, it encounters a colorful cast of characters: a raccoon that steadfastly ignores advice, a watchdog indifferent to its duties, and a princess always ready with a retort. Together, this unlikely quartet discovers the unexpected joy and strength in shared stubbornness and companionship.

Helmed by Studio Soi and Marc-Uwe Kling, the film boasts a strong production team including Uwe Schott and Nicole Kellerhals from X-Filme Creative Pool, alongside Studio Soi, and Steffen Schier, Margret Mackuth, and Julia Hayungs representing Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany. The project has received significant backing from various cultural and film funding institutions, including BKM, FFA, Medien- und Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg, and Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung. Gamze Celik, The Playmaker's sales and acquisitions manager, expressed immense enthusiasm for the film, highlighting the book's global appeal and predicting a delightful and engaging adventure for audiences of all ages, celebrating the magic of cinema and the enduring power of storytelling.

This venture exemplifies the creative synergy between literary success and cinematic artistry, promising to captivate hearts with its unique narrative and enchanting visuals. The story of the uNOcorn, filled with humor and unexpected friendships, serves as a poignant reminder that embracing one's individuality and finding joy in collective experiences enriches life. It encourages us to look beyond conventional expectations and celebrate the diverse personalities that make our world vibrant and interesting.
