As I journey through the initial stages of Silksong, the 'Thread Storm' stands out as a formidable area-of-effect attack, available relatively early in the game. However, a recent revelation, thanks to a comprehensive video guide from Jason Mondal, unveiled that I had been underutilizing its full potential. My previous approach involved merely a single press or hold of the right bumper on the controller to activate the ability.
The key to significantly boosting 'Thread Storm's' damage lies in rapidly pressing the activation button. This technique extends the ability's duration without consuming additional silk, leading to a substantial increase in damage per use. While this prolonged engagement might leave you more exposed to enemy attacks, the inherent risk-reward balance is already a core aspect of employing 'Thread Storm' effectively.
My preferred method for utilizing 'Thread Storm' involves positioning Hornet diagonally, slightly above and to the side of a boss. This angle allows the ability's area-of-effect to encompass the enemy while simultaneously providing a better chance to evade incoming attacks. Against adversaries susceptible to being staggered by 'Thread Storm', extending its duration poses minimal risk, making it an invaluable asset in challenging wave-based encounters.
To acquire the 'Thread Storm' ability, you must venture into the latter half of Act One, specifically within the Greymoor region. Instead of proceeding westward along the main path towards Bellhart, head east. Continue past Shakra, who offers the area's map, until you reach a dead end marked by an accessible structure.
Inside this building, you'll face a demanding wave battle—a scenario where 'Thread Storm' itself would be immensely beneficial. Successfully conquering this challenge will trigger the appearance of balloon ladders outside. By executing a downward attack to bounce off these balloons, you can ascend to the chamber's pinnacle, leading to a new section. The shrine housing the 'Thread Storm' ability awaits at the conclusion of a platforming sequence within this final area.
